About this strain
A Chinese king oyster strain of the Asian type: thick, long stems and small caps — the shape most valued by the trade and in the kitchen. The stem is firm and springy, ideal for slicing and grilling.
To keep this shape, fresh air and light are kept low during fruiting: higher CO₂ lengthens the stem, while strong light enlarges the cap.
How to grow it
Preparation
- Substrate
- 68% beech sawdust + 30% soya hulls or wheat bran + 2% gypsum
- Spawn rate
- 2–3% of substrate weight
Growing stages
Spawn run (incubation)
- Temperature
- 21–24°C
- Humidity
- 90–95%
- Duration
- 12–16 days
- CO₂
- 5,000–20,000 ppm
Primordia formation
- Temperature
- 10–15°C
- Humidity
- 95–100%
- Duration
- 4–5 days
- CO₂
- 500–1,000 ppm
- Fresh air
- 4–8 per hour
- Light
- 500–1,000 lx
Pinning is triggered by a drop in temperature to 10–15°C at very high humidity.
Fruiting
- Temperature
- 15–21°C
- Humidity
- 85–90%
- Duration
- 4–8 days
- CO₂
- <2,000 ppm
- Fresh air
- 4–5 per hour
- Light
- 500–1,000 lx
Limited fresh air and low light keep the desired shape: a thick stem and a small cap.
Harvest
- Flushes
- 2
- Between flushes

Most of the crop comes in the first flush. Between flushes raise humidity to approx. 90%.
Please note: these growing parameters bring together the experience of practising growers — a starting point, not a guarantee of results. Every grow has its own substrate, climate and equipment, and even small differences can noticeably change the yield. Adjust these values to your own conditions.
